Razzy Peach Chill

Day 75

Razzy Peach Chill
4 shots out of 5

Felt like pulling out the blender again and having another blended cocktail.  Since I only have my 4 purees so far, I thought I'd try to blend a couple of them together and make a new flavor.  I call it Razzy Peach Chill!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.  It's a pretty good one.  Raspberry and Peach are a pretty good match and I'm enjoying drinking this cocktail.    I like raspberry flavor in my cocktails in general, so I figured adding raspberry and peach might be good.  (Side note: Raspberry margaritas are the flavor that I usually order because it  cuts out that tequila taste quite well.)  I do need to get some more flavors of purees though so that I can experiment more.  I know they have a strawberry one......but I'm hoping they have some different flavors out there that I haven't seen yet.

Here is the recipe for the Razzy Peach Chill:

  • 1 1/2 shots rum
  • 1 1/2 shot peach puree
  • 1/2 shot raspberry puree
  • 1/2 shot peach schnapps
  • 1/2 shot sweet & sour mix
In a blender add a cup of ice, rum, peach puree, raspberry puree, peach schnapps and sweet & sour mix.  Blend up your ingredients until all of the ice is gone, you don't want your cocktail crunchy!

Cheers to the word Razzy!  I just really like that word and felt like incorporating it in the name of tonight's cocktail!!

Cheers!!

Peach Freeze Cocktail

Day 60

Peach Freeze
3.5 shots out of 5

Was feeling creative today and it seems that my peach puree has been neglected lately, so I thought I'd try my hardest to make something with it today.  I have to say that this peach puree is a hard one to work with for me.  It doesn't have as strong of a flavor as some of those other purees, so I feel like I should be adding a LOT of shots of it to my recipes.......which doesn't work when you have one cocktail glass to fit it in.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  I wasn't terribly happy that it didn't have a bigger peach taste, but it is what it is.  I figured adding the peach schnapps would help, and it defiantly did.  The cocktail over all isn't horrible (which might be the way it sounds?), it has a good flavor and I am happy drinking it.  I will still try to figure out a way (which maybe adding actual peaches themselves would work) to make a frozen cocktail taste more peachy, but for now, this one will do.

Here is the recipe for a Peach Freeze:

  • 1 1/2 shots rum
  • 1 1/2 shot peach puree
  • 1/2 shot peach schnapps
  • 1/2 shot sweet & sour mix
In a blender add a cup of ice, rum, peach puree, peach schnapps and sweet & sour mix.  Blend it up until the ice is completely gone.  Pour and enjoy!

Here's to finding a more peachy frozen cocktail in the future.  And a BIG cheers to my 60th day of my Year Of Cocktails Blog!!  I'm enjoying this a whole lot!  I feel a lot more experienced in the world of cocktails now then I did when I started this blog!

Cheers!

Wild Thing Cocktail

Day 59

Wild Thing
3.5 shots out of 5

WOW is it late!!  For the record I started tonight's blog at 11:58pm, so I just made it in time!  It's a late blog tonight because we had soccer, baseball and a birthday party today, so a nice cocktail is definitely needed now!

I gave the Wild Thing 3.5 shots out of 5.  I do like the fruitier, sweeter (not not too sweet) cocktails and this one isn't really that.  It's still a good cocktail though.  Not one I'd order again, but I'm glad I tried it.  The name of the cocktail is fun too!  It always interests me when I see a cocktail recipe ask for vodka AND rum.  As you know I used to be a vodka cran or rum & coke girl, so the fact that some of these recipes want me to mix the two absolutely baffled my mind at first.  Not so much now.  I have seen some cocktails mixing 3 or more different alcohols, so mixing two is old news to me now.  I can't say that I would recommend this drink to my friends because they like more of the same kinds of cocktails I do, but for someone who likes the taste of the liqueurs and alcohols more then the mixes and juices, I would say to definitely go for it!

Here is the recipe for the Wild Thing:

  • 1 1/2 shots vodka
  • 1/2 shot rum
  • 1/2 shot triple sec
  • dash of lime juice
  • dash of sweet & sour mix
  • 2 1/2 shots cranberry juice
In a shaker add ice, vodka, rum, triple sec, lime juice and sweet & sour mix.  Shake it up real good to get all of the ingredients mixed well.  Strain it into a tall glass filled 3/4 with ice.  Then add the cranberry juice.

Here's to a late night cocktail!  Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Peach Margarita

Day 48

Peach Margarita
3.5 shots out of 5

I am a BIG fan of these Finest Call purees, I must say!  I'm enjoying using them to create my blended cocktails.  I'm looking forward to my next trip to the liquor store to find out what other flavors they sell!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  I was a little disappointed in myself because I wanted this cocktail to taste more like peaches.  My husband says that he can taste the peach flavor, but I can't taste it all that much.  I think I'll try to make it again another night and amend my ingredient amounts a little.  I do need to tell you though, that the photo of the end result below was fresh out of the blender, so it looks kinda whitish, where now as I'm blogging about it and it's sitting, the ingredients have settled and it's now the color that I thought it would be which is a peachy orange color.

To me this cocktail kind of tastes like a blended margarita.....wait, let me take another sip.........yup, I was right!  I mean I kind of taste the peach, but not like I want to.  Oh well, can't make a "5 shoter" every night.  I think if I was to lessen the sweet & sour and add more of the peach puree I would have had it tasting more like I wanted it to.

Here is the recipe for the Peach Margarita:

  • 1 shot tequila (yes I said tequila, yikes!)
  • 1/4 shot triple sec
  • 1/4 shot lime juice
  • 1 1/2 shots sweet & sour mix
  • 1 shot peach puree
In a blender add 1 cup of ice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, sweet & sour mix and peach puree.  Blend until your ice is completely gone.  Pour and enjoy!!

I guess even the cocktail lady doesn't get it right all the time, haha, totally kidding, I'm still learning how to and what to mix to make these cocktails work!

Black Raspberry Coconut Daiquiri

Day 47

Black Raspberry Coconut Daiquiri
4 shots out of 5

So I was feeling creative tonight and was also feeling like blended cocktail.  We pulled out the blender and got busy.  Busy making cocktails that is.  I'm pretty impressed with my creation I must say, and would totally order it at a bar, once I told them how to make it that is, haha.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.  I decided to take your basic ingredients and add a few more to then, hey why not.  I added some coconut cream and some Chambord to give it that Black Raspberry taste and mmmmmm was that good idea!  These kind of cocktails are really making me wish summer was here already.  I want to make some blended fruity cocktails and sit in the backyard and watch the kids running around playing in the sun.  Summer can not come fast enough.  Those of you who are enjoying the Chambord, you'll have to give this cocktail a try, I'm thinking that you'll like it!!

Here is the recipe for Black Raspberry Coconut Daiquiri:

  • 1 1/2 shots light rum
  • 1 1/2 shots raspberry puree
  • 1 shot sweet & sour mix
  • 1/4 shot lime juice
  • 1/2 shot coconut cream
  • 1/2 shot Chambord
In a blender add a cup of ice, rum, raspberry puree, sweet & sour mix, lime juice, coconut cream and Chambord.  Blend it up really well so that all of the ice is gone.  Pour and enjoy!!

Alien Urine Sample Drink

Day 44

Alien Urine Sample
5 shots out of 5

I am really enjoying this Alien Urine Sample!  Yes I said it, it's really good!!!  My bartenders book has some mighty interesting named cocktails, but boy are some of them really good!  This is a very very yummy cocktail that I will definitely be making again.  OK, is it too soon to make another one now?

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  This is a very refreshing cocktail and one that's fun to drink.  Alien Urine Sample has a good mix of a few different liqueurs that makes this cocktail super yummy.  The color of it can be a little intimidating (another neon colored cocktail like the Liquid Marijuana I made not too long ago), but boy is it good!!  If you have been enjoying the same cocktails that I have been so far, you'll definitely need to try this one!!

Here are the ingredients for Alien Urine Sample:

  • 1/2 shot coconut rum
  • 1/2 shot melon liqueur
  • 1/2 shot banana liqueur
  • 1/2 peach schnapps
  • 2 shots sweet & sour juice
  • soda water
  • 1/2 shot blue curaçao
In a shaker fill with ice and add coconut rum, melon liqueur, banana liqueur, peach schnapps and sweet & sour mix.  Shake it up really good to mix everything together.  Pour everything into a tall glass, add a splash of soda water and blue curaçao.  Enjoy!!!!

Liquid Marijuana Cocktail

Day 38

Liquid Marijuana
5 shots out of 5

OK, so I've seen this cocktail ALL OVER Pinterest and I just had to try it!  One of my best friends has been asking me to making this one as well, so here it is!!  Can I just say YUMMY!!!!  Here's to  learning yet another thing about cocktails.........I actually like sweet & sour mix!  I guess I was scared of sweet & sour mix because it reminded me of regular margaritas.....which in turn reminded me of....<gags> tequila!!  Yes, yes, I do know that I will have to make cocktails with tequila in them, and because of that I have to admit that I DID purchase a bottle of it today.

Tequila and I had a face off about 15 years ago, and I am ashamed to admit..... tequila won.  It has made me NOT like it and run from it's smell for the past 15 years.  There has been an occasion or 5 where I got up enough courage to have a shot of it again since that horrible night.....but I never drank NEARLY as much of it as I did that one night 15 years ago.  Yes......yes, I did have one night about 4 years ago where I was a little off and had a few shots of the stuff......that night didn't end well either.

Anyways, I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  I am enjoying this cocktail a lot!  The sweet & sour mix is really giving it a surprisingly good taste!  I have a feeling that this cocktail will be requested at our next friend gathering.  I recommend you try this cocktail and I really hope you like it as much as, or even half as much as I do!

Here is the recipe for Liquid Marijuana:

  • 1/2 shot Malibu Rum
  • 1/2 light rum
  • 1/2 shot blue curaçao (this time it makes the cocktail good, haha)
  • 1/2 shot apple pucker
  • 2 1/2 shots sweet & sour mix
  • 2 1/2 shots pineapple juice
In a tall glass fill it up 3/4 to the top with ice.  Pour in your Malibu Rum, light rum, blue curaçao, apple pucker, sweet & sour mix and pineapple juice.  Stir it up really good and enjoy!

Purple Rain Cocktail

Day 19

Purple Rain
3 shots out of 5

Purple Rain.......no not the song by Prince, the cocktail Purple Rain.  I had seen a couple yummy looking purple cocktails on pinterest and thought, I love purple.....lets do it!  Purple Rain is a cocktail that came up on my search of cocktails, so I investigated its ingredients.  Not so easy, every listing of Purple Rain I found had yet another set of ingredients then the one before it.  I chose one, gave it a shot and COULD NOT for the life of my make it turn purple!  Frustrated with my shades of blue, I sat down at my computer and did......yet another.......search for Purple Rain.  I found one that had simple enough instructions as to where at the end you add a tiny bit more Blue Curaçao until you get a deep purple color.  That sounded more controllable then the other one I tried.

Needless to say, it worked!!  Yeay!!  Only thing was........I had to revisit my new friend.....gin.  OK, we were pretty friendly last time, so this time should be fine.  It was!  I must say, I enjoyed tonight's cocktail.  Therefore gin moved up a couple notches on my belt.

I gave Purple Rain 3 shots out of 5.  Reason being, this cocktail isn't extremely flavorful where the strongest flavor I could taste was the gin.  That being said, the gin taste was not enough to make me not enjoy it.  All in all, I have enjoyed my second cocktail with gin.  My husband who if you remember likes gin said that it tastes good and reminds him of a gin tonic.

Side note, be careful out there when searching for cocktails!  I did an "Images" search for Purple Rain as well as purple cocktails and when I clicked on a few of the purple cocktails I got virus alerts!  Just wanted to pass that on to you all.  When I've done a regular google "Everything" search for these cocktails (purple and not) I've run into no viruses at all.  Not to say that each and every search you do will turn up with no viruses if you use the "Everything" search, but that's just what I've found recently.

Here's the recipe for Purple Rain:

  • 1 1/2 shots of gin
  • cranberry juice
  • splash of blue curaçao
  • splash of sweet & sour mix
  • splash of club soda

Fill your tall glass with ice.  Pour in the gin, then fill the rest of the glass "almost" to the top with cranberry juice.  Add your blue curaçao, sweet & sour mix and club soda.  Gently stir all of your ingredients together and examine.  If your cocktail is not deep purple, add a tiny bit more blue curaçao to it and stir.  Keep doing that until your cocktail becomes a deep purple color.  I only had to add one small amount of blue curaçao to my cocktail at the end, so just judge the color yourself to find the right purple color.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Did you notice that I changed the order of my pictures inside tonight's post?  Why did I do that you ask?  Simple, when I link this page to my facebook page the "ingredients" photo is always the picture that represents my post, and I'd rather have the "end result" show up, therefore I switched the photos and will do so from now on.

Hope you enjoy tonight's cocktail!
