Artificial Intelligence

Day 72

Artificial Intelligence
3 shots out of 5

Day 72 and still going strong!  Happy Friday night, what a long week that was.  Time for a warm weekend full of sports, sports and more sports!  Don't forget the cocktails!!  I sure know I won't.  Tonight's cocktail is Artificial Intelligence.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.  This cocktail kinda tastes.......like......nuth'n.  I mean there's some taste to it, obviously enough for me to give it 3 shots and continue drinking it.  It just doesn't scream "I'm an awesome cocktail, you want to devour me and go for seconds!!".  Well my Alien Urine Sample was a very good one, but the Artificial Intelligence......aaahhh, I've had better.  Anyway, it's not going to ruin my weekend!  It's supposed to be hotter tomorrow, so maybe I'll pull out the blender and give it a whirl!

Side note:  I still completely fail at "floating" an alcohol on top of a cocktail.  As you can see the melon liqueur is on the bottom of my cocktail.  Cocktail Lady 0 shots out of 5 for Floating.

Here's the recipe for Artificial Intelligence:

  • 1/2 shot light rum
  • 1/2 shot dark rum
  • 1/2 shot coconut rum
  • dash of lime juice
  • 3 shots pineapple juice
  • 1/2 shot melon liqueur
In a shaker add ice, light rum, dark rum, coconut rum, lime juice and pineapple juice.  Shake it up real well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  Float melon liqueur on top.

Cheers to the weekend!  It couldn't have come fast enough!  Hope you all enjoy your weekend and might even try a new cocktail during it!

Cheers!!

Lifesaver Cocktail

Day 66

Lifesaver
2.5 shots out of 5

I was intrigued by the name I have to say.  Lifesaver, sure why not.  Sounds like the candy....although it wasn't my favorite candy, it was a well known candy.  So hey, let's give it a shot.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5 and not because I couldn't stand the taste.  It doesn't have an ingredient in it that makes me gag or not want to drink it.  That wasn't the reason at all.  The problem with this cocktail is that.......it lacks flavor.  It kinda tastes like nothing.  Sure it's a nice green color.  I can sort of taste the pineapple juice in it......but I think the amounts of each kinda cancelled the others out or something.  I would be bummed if I paid $9 for this cocktail and it tasted like this.  Oh well.......can't win them all

Here is the recipe for a Lifesaver:

  • 1 1/2 shots coconut rum
  • 1/2 shot melon liqueur (Midori)
  • 2 shots pineapple juice
In a shaker, add ice, coconut rum, melon liqueur and pineapple juice.  Shake up your ingredients real well.  Pour everything into a tall cocktail glass.

Cheers to the childhood candy Lifesaver and to the fact that those candies had more flavor in them then this cocktail!

Cheers!

Alien Urine Sample Drink

Day 44

Alien Urine Sample
5 shots out of 5

I am really enjoying this Alien Urine Sample!  Yes I said it, it's really good!!!  My bartenders book has some mighty interesting named cocktails, but boy are some of them really good!  This is a very very yummy cocktail that I will definitely be making again.  OK, is it too soon to make another one now?

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  This is a very refreshing cocktail and one that's fun to drink.  Alien Urine Sample has a good mix of a few different liqueurs that makes this cocktail super yummy.  The color of it can be a little intimidating (another neon colored cocktail like the Liquid Marijuana I made not too long ago), but boy is it good!!  If you have been enjoying the same cocktails that I have been so far, you'll definitely need to try this one!!

Here are the ingredients for Alien Urine Sample:

  • 1/2 shot coconut rum
  • 1/2 shot melon liqueur
  • 1/2 shot banana liqueur
  • 1/2 peach schnapps
  • 2 shots sweet & sour juice
  • soda water
  • 1/2 shot blue curaçao
In a shaker fill with ice and add coconut rum, melon liqueur, banana liqueur, peach schnapps and sweet & sour mix.  Shake it up really good to mix everything together.  Pour everything into a tall glass, add a splash of soda water and blue curaçao.  Enjoy!!!!

Cheers to Alien Urine Samples!!  This is the only kind of urine sample I believe I will ever try!!

Ninja Turtle Cocktail

Day 39

Ninja Turtle
4.5 shots out of 5

Ding, Ding, Ding another winner!!  Thanks again Fire Wench!!  I had all of the ingredients for the Ninja Turtle, so I figured I'd give it a shot!  Yum!!

I have to admit that when I first started straining this cocktail into my glass I got a little scared.....because of it's neon-ey green color.  I have to say, do NOT let the color fool you!  This is a good cocktail!!  It kind of has a creamy taste/after-taste.  It's kind of weird that it has that because you're not expecting it at all, but it's definitely weird in a GOOD way!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  The Ninja Turtle is even husband approved!  I have to admit that ever since I decided that I was going to make it tonight, I have been singing the theme song to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" over and over again in my head!  And now I will say "You're Welcome", because I'm sure about 90% of you are now singing that song as well!

Here is the recipe for the Ninja Turtle:

  • 1 shot Malibu rum
  • 1 shot melon liqueur
  • 1 shot pineapple juice
In a shaker add ice, Malibu rum, melon liqueur and pineapple juice.  Shake it up well so that all of the ingredients mix up good.  Strain it into bud vase if you have one (like mine pictured below), or even a martini glass and enjoy!!

To those of you who used to watch the cartoon, have seen the movies or just know who the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are, Cheers to you!!

Sex On The Sidewalk

Day 36

Sex On The Sidewalk
3.5 shots out of 5

Tonight's cocktail idea I received from a reader, FireWench.  I am thoroughly enjoying receiving everyone's emails and cocktail suggestions.  I have a couple more good suggestions in my inbox that I am excited to try out in the night's to come!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  This is a cocktail that I can definitely enjoy.  It is another cocktail that has Chambord in it, very exciting!  Tonight's cocktail is not a fruity cocktail, nor is it one that tastes like alcohol, it's simply a cocktail to enjoy.  Thank You FireWench for tonight's suggestion!  Tonight's cocktail has a flavor to it that I have never had before (well obviously you're thinking, since I've never drank it before).  What I mean by that is that some cocktails you can say, "You know that sort of tastes like a vodka cran, but with lime" or something like that, well tonight's cocktail I can honestly not say that it tastes like any cocktail I've ever had before.  It's got a taste all of it's own!

Here is the recipe for Sex On The Sidewalk:

  • 1 shot vodka
  • 1/2 shot Melon Liqueur
  • 1/2 Chambord (Black Raspberry Liqueur)
  • 3 shots cranberry juice
In a shaker add ice, vodka, melon liqueur, chambord and cranberry juice.  Shake well to mix and chill your cocktail.  In a tall glass filled with ice, strain your cocktail into it and enjoy!

The Dirty Grinch

Day 16

The Dirty Grinch
4 shots out of 5

Happiest of Birthday's Dr. Seuss!!  Tonight's drink is dedicated to you!

I took a drink you may know
And I gave it quite a show,
I poured in all of it's things,
But to it I added Grenadine,

I like it, I like it, I like it,
I really really do,
I like it, I like it, I like it,
and I hope that you do too!

I gave tonight's cocktail 1 shot, 2 shot, 3 shot 4 out of 5 shots.  I took the Grinch cocktail, which should have had a cherry at the bottom, but since I didn't have one, I "attempted" to float my shaken Grinch over a bit of grenadine I had poured in the bottom of my chilled glass.  I totally failed at it.....and so the result kinda reminds me of a dirty martini, therefore I created The Dirty Grinch!  The Dirty Grinch is a very sweet drink, so little sips spaced out a bit work well with it.

I am having an absolute blast with this blog.  I hope you're enjoying reading it as well.  I would never have known of half of these drinks I've made so far, as well as the ones I have on my list to still make.  I really hope you try the cocktails that sound good to you, who knows, your new favorite drink could be one of them.  As always, if you have any drink ideas that come along with a recipe, please email them to me at cocktailady@gmail.com  I'd love to hear from you!

Here is the recipe for The Dirty Grinch:

  • 2 shots Midori
  • 1/2 shot lemon juice
  • 1/4 shot of simple syrup
  • grenadine

In a shaker with ice, add your midori, lemon juice and simple syrup.  Shake it up real good to get all of the ingredients mixed up well.  Take your chilled cocktail glass and pour in enough grenadine so that the bottom  triangular divit is filled with it.  On the back of a bar spoon, give your best attempt of floating your strained grinch mix from the shaker on top of the grenadine.  If it doesn't work, it'll still taste good!  Enjoy!!  (If you were to make the Grinch itself, you would skip the grenadine and add a cherry.  Your cocktail would be green...grinch green that is.)

Cheers to you Dr. Seuss!!
