Artificial Intelligence

Day 72

Artificial Intelligence
3 shots out of 5

Day 72 and still going strong!  Happy Friday night, what a long week that was.  Time for a warm weekend full of sports, sports and more sports!  Don't forget the cocktails!!  I sure know I won't.  Tonight's cocktail is Artificial Intelligence.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.  This cocktail kinda tastes.......like......nuth'n.  I mean there's some taste to it, obviously enough for me to give it 3 shots and continue drinking it.  It just doesn't scream "I'm an awesome cocktail, you want to devour me and go for seconds!!".  Well my Alien Urine Sample was a very good one, but the Artificial Intelligence......aaahhh, I've had better.  Anyway, it's not going to ruin my weekend!  It's supposed to be hotter tomorrow, so maybe I'll pull out the blender and give it a whirl!

Side note:  I still completely fail at "floating" an alcohol on top of a cocktail.  As you can see the melon liqueur is on the bottom of my cocktail.  Cocktail Lady 0 shots out of 5 for Floating.

Here's the recipe for Artificial Intelligence:

  • 1/2 shot light rum
  • 1/2 shot dark rum
  • 1/2 shot coconut rum
  • dash of lime juice
  • 3 shots pineapple juice
  • 1/2 shot melon liqueur
In a shaker add ice, light rum, dark rum, coconut rum, lime juice and pineapple juice.  Shake it up real well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.  Float melon liqueur on top.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here's a photo of the ingredience:

Cheers to the weekend!  It couldn't have come fast enough!  Hope you all enjoy your weekend and might even try a new cocktail during it!

Electric Parrothead

Day 71

Electric Parrothead
3.5 shots out of 5

The weekend is almost here!  Froze at our oldest son's baseball game tonight, so glad his weekend game is earlier in the day!  Came home and it was time to make tonight's cocktail.  I figured I'd use my new Spiced Rum in a cocktail tonight, so I chose Electric Parrothead.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  Personally I think I would have gone 1 of 2 different ways with this cocktail.  Either, skip the spiced rum and just stuck with the coconut rum, or decreased the spiced rum to 1/2 shot and either upped the coconut rum by 1/2 shot or the pineapple juice by 1/2 a shot (depending on how coconut-ey I'm feeling).  I think the spiced rum is a bit too spicy for this cocktail, but it wasn't horrible where I couldn't finish it.  It's not bad.......I'd just have made it a little different is all.

Here is the recipe for Electric Parrothead:

  • 1 shot coconut rum
  • 1 shot spiced rum
  • 1/2 shot blue curacao
  • 1 1/2 shots pineapple juice
In a shaker add ice, coconut rum, spiced rum, blue curacao and pineapple juice.  Shake up your ingredients real good.  Pour everything into a tall glass.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Cheers to tomorrow being Friday and the weekend being so close I can almost touch it!

The Drunken Milkmaid

Day 70

The Drunken Milkmaid
4.5 shots out of 5

First off, I would like to say Happy 70th Day of Cocktails!  Thank You to all of those who have been with me from Day 1 and also to those of you who have found me along the way!  I am having a really fun time making and trying all of these cocktails, as I hope you are having fun reading about them and maybe even trying some of them along with me.  I must say that so far the cocktail recipes that I have received from all of you have been really good ones!  I haven't had a bad recipe from a reader yet!  I love trying the cocktails you all love to drink at home.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  I received this recipe from Kera, Thank You Kera!!  The Drunken Milkmaid is a good cocktail that is perfectly mixed (in my opinion of course) by all of its ingredients.  If you notice, the glass has been "designed" a bit different tonight from when I designed the glass for Brown Lady.  Reason being........my husband wanted to design tonight's glass.......but.........I think he used a "bit" too much chocolate?  Anyways, it tastes very yummy with the amount he used and I know it would taste yummy with even less chocolate syrup.  I must say....as I am typing this blog and looking at the chocolate that has now collected more toward the bottom of my glass....I just realized that I was supposed to put whipped cream on top of it!  I even have it out on the counter.  I'm sorry Kera, I wish I would have remembered about it.....instead of being too excited to drink it.

Here is the recipe for The Drunken Milkmaid:

  • 1/2 shot kahlua
  • 1/2 shot creme de cacao
  • 1/2 shot butterscotch schnapps
  • 1/2 shot amaretto
  • 1/2 shot milk
  • chocolate syrup
  • whipped cream (which I totally forgot)
In a shaker add ice, kahlua, creme de cacao, butterscotch schnapps, amaretto and milk.  Shake it up really well so that all of the ingredients get blended well.  Strain it into a martini glass that has been "designed" with chocolate syrup.  Top with whipped cream (still mad that I forgot that) and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

A big Thank You to Kera for this lovely cocktail!  I have to say that I was always skeptical about chocolate syrup in your cocktail until I tried the Brown Lady and The Drunken Milkmaid.  Not anymore though!  It's a wonderful touch, I must say!

Cheers!!

Liquid Cocaine

Day 64

Liquid Cocaine
2.5 shots out of 5

Tonight's cocktail is dedicated to one of my very best friends, Natalie!  Today is her birthday and she has requested that I make Liquid Cocaine on her birthday.  So here's to you Natty!

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.  Let me explain.  This is definitely a cocktail that you sip, and let it sit on your tongue for a few seconds before swallowing.  If I was to take big sips, I would give it a 2.5.  If I was to sip it the way I believe it should be sipped.....it could rate a little higher......almost to a 3.  This cocktail does call for 100-proof peppermint schnapps, which I don't have, so I just used my regular peppermint schnapps.  The reason they ask for the 100-proof is merely for potency.  I can taste each ingredient in this cocktail as I take my slow sips and let it rest on my tongue.  I think it's a definite "get your buzz on" cocktail if that's what you're after.  My husband said that it sort of tasted like mouthwash, and I agree if you take a big swig of it and don't let it sit in your mouth.  If you are going to try this one, please don't swig it.

Here is the recipe for Liquid Cocaine:

  • 1 shot 151-proof rum
  • 1 shot 100-proof peppermint schnapps (or regular like I used)
  • 1 shot Jägermeister
In your shaker, add ice, rum, peppermint schnapps and Jägermeister.  Stir up your mixture very well so that they all get blended well.  Strain your cocktail into a chilled cocktail glass.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

I HUGE cheers to Natalie on her birthday!  I look forward to celebrating with you!  This liquid cocaine is for you!!

Cheers!

Kamikaze

Day 62

Kamikaze
3 shots out of 5

When I started this blog I told my friends to let me know what cocktail they want me to make on their birthdays.  Tonight is Kristin's birthday and she has requested I make a Kamikaze.  A big Happy Birthday to you Kristin!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.  The Kamikaze is pretty good, but I think next time I make it I will put in less lime juice.  I put in equal amounts of the 3 main ingredients and it was a bit too limey, so I added in the simple syrup, which helped........but I think if I would have halved the lime juice and still added the simply syrup, I would have liked it better.  My husband says that he likes his with lemon juice instead of lime juice..........so that's always an option next time.

Here is the recipe for a Kamikaze:

  • 1 shot vodka
  • 1 shot Cointreau
  • 1 shot lime juice
  • 1/4 shot simple syrup
In a shaker add ice, vodka, Cointreau, lime juice and simple syrup.  Shake it up really well to get it all mixed and chilled good.  Strain into a short cocktail glass.

Tootie Fruity

Day 61

Tootie Fruity
3 shots out of 5

Here's to........yet another........song in my head!  I decided to try another cocktail from the site that I had found through Pinterest that had given me that great recipe for Liquid Marijuana.  This cocktail they call Tootie Fruity.  I have to say that my Liquid Marijuana didn't look like the one on their site......and neither does this one.  Score another one for Photoshop.  I admit, their photos for Tootie Fruity, as well as the photo of the Barbie Cocktail that's been going around (here's a link to their photo and mine on my blog) do look a lot cooler in color then mine.  I have to say though, if I'm going to make a cocktail at home from someones blog I found online, I want it to look (at least for the most part) like theirs does.  That's why I'm not photoshopping my photos.  I want you to see exactly what I see.  Sure I can make tonight's drink look neon purple if I want to, but that's not what you're going to make at home, so why should I mislead you in thinking that that is what you're going to get?  Anyways.....onto the cocktail.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.  It's a good cocktail......but nothing special I must say.  It kinda reminds me of how a screwdriver tastes--It's a good cocktail, sure, but nothing like some of these fruity cocktails I've been making.  Can't say I'd initally order this cocktail and pay $9 for it (sober), but I can say that if I've had a few and don't know what to have next this would be a safe cocktail.  I think that if you added more of one juice then the others to let it be the dominate juice, that might help.

Side Note: Check out "My Shot System" link on the left side bar under the Table Of Contents title!  I have put into words my shot system so that now you all can understand exactly what I'm thinking in my head when I rate these cocktails!!

Here is the recipe for the Tootie Fruity:

  • 1 shot vodka
  • 1/2 shot triple sec
  • 1 shot cranberry juice
  • 1 shot orange juice
  • 1 shot pineapple juice
In a hurricane glass, fill it 3/4 with ice, then add your vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, orange juice and pineapple juice.  Stir it up real well and drink!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here's to not photoshopping my photos and knowing that what you see here is what you get!  Well except for the fact that all of our monitors are calibrated a bit different so we will all probably see tonight's cocktail in a very slightly different shade of yellow.

Cheers!!

Wild Thing Cocktail

Day 59

Wild Thing
3.5 shots out of 5

WOW is it late!!  For the record I started tonight's blog at 11:58pm, so I just made it in time!  It's a late blog tonight because we had soccer, baseball and a birthday party today, so a nice cocktail is definitely needed now!

I gave the Wild Thing 3.5 shots out of 5.  I do like the fruitier, sweeter (not not too sweet) cocktails and this one isn't really that.  It's still a good cocktail though.  Not one I'd order again, but I'm glad I tried it.  The name of the cocktail is fun too!  It always interests me when I see a cocktail recipe ask for vodka AND rum.  As you know I used to be a vodka cran or rum & coke girl, so the fact that some of these recipes want me to mix the two absolutely baffled my mind at first.  Not so much now.  I have seen some cocktails mixing 3 or more different alcohols, so mixing two is old news to me now.  I can't say that I would recommend this drink to my friends because they like more of the same kinds of cocktails I do, but for someone who likes the taste of the liqueurs and alcohols more then the mixes and juices, I would say to definitely go for it!

Here is the recipe for the Wild Thing:

  • 1 1/2 shots vodka
  • 1/2 shot rum
  • 1/2 shot triple sec
  • dash of lime juice
  • dash of sweet & sour mix
  • 2 1/2 shots cranberry juice
In a shaker add ice, vodka, rum, triple sec, lime juice and sweet & sour mix.  Shake it up real good to get all of the ingredients mixed well.  Strain it into a tall glass filled 3/4 with ice.  Then add the cranberry juice.

Here's to a late night cocktail!  Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Banana Boat

Day 58

Banana Boat
5 shots out of 5

I have to share this little story with you.  Not thinking of how I looked doing this, I had made tonight's cocktail, Banana Boat, and LOVED it soooo much that I needed to walk down to Steph's house (Here's her awesome site) with martini glass in hand for her to try it!  I walked down, knocked on her door, handed her the cocktail to try......mission accomplished.  Now for the walk home.  Happy with myself and my cocktail, I turned around and started walking home.  Along drives a guy in a red explorer, totally staring at me with the biggest "way to go girl" smile on his face!  It totally made me smile, because at that moment I realized what I looked like!  He gets to the corner, rolls down his window and sticks his arm out to give me a BIG wave before he disappears behind the houses.  Just thinking of what it all must have looked like makes me laugh.  OK, onto tonight's cocktail.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  WOWZERS, this is a very good cocktail!  I am SOOO enjoying the banana liqueur in this one!  Tastes just like bananas!  Each ingredient compliments the other in such a fantastic way that I wish I would have known about this cocktail earlier!  Hope you try and enjoy a Banana Boat!

Here is the recipe for a Banana Boat:

  • 1 shot coconut rum
  • 1 shot banana liqueur
  • 2 shots pineapple juice
In a shaker add ice, rum, banana liqueur and pineapple juice.  Shake it up real well to get everything mixed up good.  In a chilled martini glass, strain your cocktail and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Cheers to banana liqueur!  I am enjoying cocktails that have this liqueur in them.  It's a liqueur that is a pleasant surprise, I must say!

PB&J Martini

Day 57

PB&J Martini (Peanut Butter and Jelly)
3.5 shots out of 5

It's like a race against time here!!  It's storming outside, total thunder and lightening!  My friend Steph (The Crockpot Lady) called to tell me that the news said that we may have a power outage, so I'm mixing, shaking, straining, drinking and blogging as fast as my fingers can!  My 4 kids are all standing by the windows announcing when they see yet another lightening bolt.....which I must say they're coming faster and faster!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  Next time I think I will cut back the amount of vodka in this cocktail, which I think I'd like a bit better.  The flavor the PB&J is good, (ok that last lightening bolt was right outside our house.......blog faster, blog faster!) so I think I'll definitely make my tweeked version again!  For those who like their martinis with a bit of flavor, I think you'll definitely like this cocktail!

Here is the recipe for the PB&J:

  • 2 shots vodka
  • 1/2 shot hazelnut liqueur (frangelico)
  • 1/2 shot Chambord
  • 1/4 shot Butterscotch Schnapps
  • dash of milk
In a shaker, add ice, vodka, hazelnut liqueur, chambord, butterscotch schnapps and milk.  Shake it up real good to get everything mixed up.  In a chilled martini glass strain your cocktail and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Cheers to PB&J making it into the martini world!!  Now I have to go join my family (yes my husband is getting very excited about seeing the lightening too) in watching the lightening and listening to the thunder!

Purple Matador

Day 56

Purple Matador
4.5 shots out of 5

Um, YUM!!!!  WOW!!  Amaretto you say?  As the main ingredient you say?  I would never have ordered this one on purpose......even though the ingredients sound like they could be good........I would have never had the guts to order this cocktail at a bar.......ever.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  I am impressed with this cocktail.  I really am.  The flavor is like none I've ever tasted before.  I would definitely have to make this one for my girls to try at our next get together!  This is a cocktail that you need to take that first sip, and not judge it right away.  Give it a minute.  Take another sip.  Then say what you think of it.  The flavor is so different and surprising that you need to take that second sip to decide whether you like it or not.

Side note, I just started Tweeting!!  So follow me on Twitter with the link on the right, and bare with me while I learn the in's and out's of Twitter!

Here is the recipe for the Purple Matador:

  • 1 1/2 shots Amaretto
  • 1 shot Chambord
  • 1/2 shot pineapple juice
In a shake add ice, amaretto, chambord and pineapple juice.  Shake it up really well to mix all of the ingredients.  Strain it into a chilled martini glass and enjoy!  Remember, don't judge it until the second sip!

Purple Russian

Day 55

Purple Russian
3 shots out of 5

Chambord makes a return!  I think it's like a top shelf Cranberry Juice.  OK, that's not exactly what it is, obviously, but in this cocktail where it more or less resembles a vodka cran, it kinda makes me think of it as that.  I must say though, if this cocktail only had a 1/2 shot of cranberry juice, I would NOT be able to drink it.  The Chambord calms the vodka taste in this one for sure.

I gave this cocktail 3 shots out of 5 and quite honestly I'm VERY surprised that I did!  I didn't think the Chambord would be flavorful enough to cut the vodka, but I tip my hat to it, because it did a great job of it.  This Purple Russian, isn't half bad!  Side note........did you notice that my bottle of Sky Vodka is empty in the photo below?  So is my Smirnoff........YIKES!!

Here is the recipe for a Purple Russian:

  • 1 1/2 shots vodka
  • 1/2 shot Chambord
In a short glass, fill it with ice and pour in your vodka and Chambord.  Stir it up good and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

A big cheers to the makers of Chambord!  I'm very impressed with this little bottle that's full of flavor!

Root Beer Float Cocktail

Day 54

Root Beer Float
5 shots out of 5

This totally tastes like a root beer float!  I really really like this one!  A friend of mine used to make something like this, but I don't think she used the flavor of vodka I used or measured it the way I did.  I guess that means that I'm going to have to make this cocktail for her next time she comes over, right?

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  This tastes just like it's name.  Thanks to Sandi (once again!  She's got some good cocktail recipes) she gave me the recipe for this one and the idea of a little bit of whipped cream swirled in it, for that extra yum flavor!  It tasted good before I swirled in the whipped cream, but I have to say that the whipped cream added to its yummyness and I definitely recommend using it!

Here is the recipe for a Root Beer Float:

  • 1 shot whipped cream vodka
  • 2 shots root beer
  • whipped cream
In a shaker add ice, vodka & root beer.  Shake it up well and strain it into a tall skinny glass, or a martini glass.  Add a good squirt of whipped cream on top and give it a quick stir.  Sip and enjoy!!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Cheers to you Sandi and Root Beer Floats!  You were right, this cocktail is good!!

Back Porch Breeze Cocktail

Day 52

Back Porch Breeze
5 shots out of 5

Thank You Olivia!!!!  WOW, your creation is an absolute winner in my book (and my husbands!!).  Olivia emailed me with her very own nameless creation.  The recipe sounded amazing, so I asked her what I can call it, and she gave me full reigns to give it a name.  I have to say, when I sit here and sip this cocktail, it makes we think I'm sitting on my back porch swing (if I had one that is), watching the kids play in the backyard on a warm summer afternoon.  After my husband and I came up with a few different names, I decided to call it Back Porch Breeze.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  This is a very refreshing cocktail!!.  The only different item I used that was not in Olivia's recipe was the kind of lemonade.  Her recipe called for regular lemonade.......which I totally thought I got.  When I got home from the store, I realized that what I had actually gotten was lemonade that was mixed with sparkling water.  The version that I made is amazing, and I'm absolutely sure that if I would have gotten the correct lemonade (minus the sparkling water part) it would be equally amazing!

Here is the recipe for a Back Porch Breeze:

  • 1 shot blueberry vodka
  • 1 shot peach schnapps
  • 2 shots lemonade
  • 3 shots sprite (Olivia gives a club soda option as well)

In a tall glass, fill it 1/4 with ice, then add the vodka, peach schnapps, lemonade and sprite.  Stir up and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

With all of these refreshing cocktails I'm making, I REALLY want summer to be here so that I CAN sit in my back yard and watch the kids play while sipping on these great cocktails!!  Thanks again Olivia for your amazing creation!!

Cheers!!

Lemon Drop Cocktail

Day 51

Lemon Drop
4.5 shots out of 5

WOW!  I have not had one of these in years!  It's quite lemony.....well.......as it should be!  I think the one I was made all of these years ago was with made with lemon drop mix though instead of using the real stuff.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  I am really enjoying my Lemon Drop!  It's very lemony, but the sugar rimmed glass makes it all tie in well together.  I had found a few different recipes online for a lemon drop, so I stuck to a basic one and it worked well!  For those of you who do enjoy the lemon flavor, I think you will definitely like this cocktail!  I even have a couple of friends over here tonight who all have a lemon drop in their hands and they both gave me a "mmmmm smile" after their first sip, so it's a definite winner!

Here is the recipe for a Lemon Drop:

  • 2 shots vodka
  • 1 shot lemon juice
  • 1 tsp simple syrup
Take a martini glass and wet the rim with lemon juice, then dip it into sugar to get a good sugar rim.  In a shaker add ice, vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup.  Shake it up real good to mix all of the ingredients.  Strain your cocktail into your sugar rimmed martini glass and enjoy!!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here's to a very lemony cocktail!  Wasn't sure that I would like this cocktail as much as I am, I have to admit.  It's a good one though!  Worth a try!

Cheers!!

Creamsicle

Day 50

Creamsicle
4 shots out of 5

Nothing like the word creamsicle to make me smile.  It always reminds me of those ice cream bars we used to eat as kids, Tutti Fruitys, 50/50 bars or creamsicles, whatever you may have called them, they were just good!

One of my best friends made this cocktail on New Years Eve and I never got a chance to try it.  I also got a request from one of my readers, Sandi, as an idea of a cocktail for one of my 366 cocktails I will be making.  In the one Sandi had initially heard about you would use orange juice in stead of orange soda.  Since orange soda was the ingredient used on New Years Eve, I decided to give that one a try, and maybe save the other for another night.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.  I took the basic recipe and added whipped cream on top for looks and for a little extra creamy flavor.  I am enjoying this cocktail a lot this evening!  Thank You Sandi for your recipe and I hope you try one soon!

Here is the recipe for a Creamsicle:

  • 2 shots whipped cream vodka
  • 2 shots orange soda
  • whipped cream
In a shaker, add ice, whipped cream vodka and orange soda.  Shake and strain into a glass and squirt a little whipped cream on top and enjoy!

Crango Daiquiri

Day 49

Crango Daiquiri
4.5 shots out of 5

I set out all of my purees and my banana liqueur and just starred at them trying to think of a new creation.  I really wanted to use my banana liqueur with one of them, so the lucky winner was the mango puree!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  I am totally digging these blended cocktails and these purees (I know I've said that before, but I just totally am!).  Tonight's cocktail is making me want to book a tropical vacation at a hotel with a pool and a cocktail waiter/waitress that keeps their eye on my glass and comes running with a brand new one as I am sipping my very last sip!  OK, that was a long sentence.  I hope you try some of my blended cocktails and love them!

I want to thank ALL of you who have emailed me your favorite cocktail recipes!  I have enjoyed making the ones I have so far and can't wait to make the others that I have on my list!  Thank You for helping me try new and exciting cocktails each and every night!  Also, Thank You to all of you who come to my blog to see what I have been drinking nightly!  I appreciate it!  You're always welcome to email me just because, you don't need to have a recipe in hand.  OK, so onto the recipe.

Here is the recipe for my Crango Daiquiri:

  • 1 1/2 shots light rum
  • 2 shots mango puree
  • 1/2 shot banana liqueur
  • 1/2 shot cream of coconut
  • 1 shot cranberry juice
In a blender add 1 cup of ice, rum, mango puree, banana liqueur, cream of coconut and cranberry juice.  Blend until your ice disappears, pour and enjoy!!

Cheers to all of you on Day 48!  Hope you are all enjoying my blog as much as I am enjoying writing it!
