Razzy Peach Chill

Day 75

Razzy Peach Chill
4 shots out of 5

Felt like pulling out the blender again and having another blended cocktail.  Since I only have my 4 purees so far, I thought I'd try to blend a couple of them together and make a new flavor.  I call it Razzy Peach Chill!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.  It's a pretty good one.  Raspberry and Peach are a pretty good match and I'm enjoying drinking this cocktail.    I like raspberry flavor in my cocktails in general, so I figured adding raspberry and peach might be good.  (Side note: Raspberry margaritas are the flavor that I usually order because it  cuts out that tequila taste quite well.)  I do need to get some more flavors of purees though so that I can experiment more.  I know they have a strawberry one......but I'm hoping they have some different flavors out there that I haven't seen yet.

Here is the recipe for the Razzy Peach Chill:

  • 1 1/2 shots rum
  • 1 1/2 shot peach puree
  • 1/2 shot raspberry puree
  • 1/2 shot peach schnapps
  • 1/2 shot sweet & sour mix
In a blender add a cup of ice, rum, peach puree, raspberry puree, peach schnapps and sweet & sour mix.  Blend up your ingredients until all of the ice is gone, you don't want your cocktail crunchy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Cheers to the word Razzy!  I just really like that word and felt like incorporating it in the name of tonight's cocktail!!

Cheers!!

Banana Mango Delight

Day 73

Banana Mango Delight
5 shots out of 5

It's no secret........I like the banana flavor in my cocktails.  I have discovered the banana puree and thought it was amazing.  I also discovered banana liqueur and holy Mama, I absolutely love this stuff!!  I haven't put it in a cocktail that I have not liked yet!  Yes I know, for those of you who have not tried a cocktail with banana liqueur in it, the thought of it might sound odd, disgusting, yucky....I'm sure the list goes on.  I have to say........if you do like bananas, I recommend that you try it!  You may just be pleasantly surprised!

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  I looove this cocktail.  I think I'm going to be making myself another one after I'm done typing this blog!  In fact, yes I will be!  What a ride this blog has taken me on.  There's more liqueurs out there then I could have possibly imagined when I started this blog.  Vodka seems to come in just about every flavor I can think of, and many more that I would never have thought of in a million years.  I know that some of you have bought some of these liqueurs along with me and tried and liked them.  I cheers you all that have taken the plunge like me and tried something new along with me.  No more vodka cran days!  Not another rum and coke will be ordered (unless that's all there is, then bring it on with an olive!).

Here's the recipe for my Banana Mango Delight:

  • 1 1/2 shots coconut rum
  • 1 shot mango puree
  • 1 shot banana puree
  • 1/2 shot banana liqueur
In a blender add 1 cup of ice, coconut rum, mango puree, banana puree and banana liqueur.  Blend all of the ingredients until all of your ice is gone.  Pour and enjoy!!

Cheers to the banana flavor in tonight's cocktail!

Peach Freeze Cocktail

Day 60

Peach Freeze
3.5 shots out of 5

Was feeling creative today and it seems that my peach puree has been neglected lately, so I thought I'd try my hardest to make something with it today.  I have to say that this peach puree is a hard one to work with for me.  It doesn't have as strong of a flavor as some of those other purees, so I feel like I should be adding a LOT of shots of it to my recipes.......which doesn't work when you have one cocktail glass to fit it in.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  I wasn't terribly happy that it didn't have a bigger peach taste, but it is what it is.  I figured adding the peach schnapps would help, and it defiantly did.  The cocktail over all isn't horrible (which might be the way it sounds?), it has a good flavor and I am happy drinking it.  I will still try to figure out a way (which maybe adding actual peaches themselves would work) to make a frozen cocktail taste more peachy, but for now, this one will do.

Here is the recipe for a Peach Freeze:

  • 1 1/2 shots rum
  • 1 1/2 shot peach puree
  • 1/2 shot peach schnapps
  • 1/2 shot sweet & sour mix
In a blender add a cup of ice, rum, peach puree, peach schnapps and sweet & sour mix.  Blend it up until the ice is completely gone.  Pour and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here's to finding a more peachy frozen cocktail in the future.  And a BIG cheers to my 60th day of my Year Of Cocktails Blog!!  I'm enjoying this a whole lot!  I feel a lot more experienced in the world of cocktails now then I did when I started this blog!

Cheers!

Dukes Fizz

Day 53

Dukes Fizz
3.5 shots out of 5

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate Easter.  Happy Day 53 for those of you who do not!  We were at our oldest's sons baseball game yesterday and my mom said that for Easter I should make my dad's Fizz cocktail that he created because it's REALLY GOOD.  I called him yesterday to get his recipe and the name he wants to call it.......I think he got ounces and shots all mixed up or something because he had told me WAAAAY too much alcohol for the rest of the ingredients.  My husband and I amended it a little and blended it up and got something that was pretty good!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  I have to say that I was REALLY nervous about making this cocktail, because.........it had an egg in it.  I've seen cocktail recipes that ask for egg whites, but this one asks for a total egg!  We made this cocktail this afternoon and I am happy to say that I am still alive, so I guess my fear of raw egg in a cocktail has subsided.

Here is the recipe for a Duke's Fizz:

  • 1 1/2 shots vodka
  • 1 egg
  • 3 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 2 shots orange juice
  • 2 tsp sugar
In a blender add a cup of ice, vodka, egg, ice cream, orange juice and sugar.  Blend your mixture until all of the ice is gone.  Pour and enjoy!!

Crango Daiquiri

Day 49

Crango Daiquiri
4.5 shots out of 5

I set out all of my purees and my banana liqueur and just starred at them trying to think of a new creation.  I really wanted to use my banana liqueur with one of them, so the lucky winner was the mango puree!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  I am totally digging these blended cocktails and these purees (I know I've said that before, but I just totally am!).  Tonight's cocktail is making me want to book a tropical vacation at a hotel with a pool and a cocktail waiter/waitress that keeps their eye on my glass and comes running with a brand new one as I am sipping my very last sip!  OK, that was a long sentence.  I hope you try some of my blended cocktails and love them!

I want to thank ALL of you who have emailed me your favorite cocktail recipes!  I have enjoyed making the ones I have so far and can't wait to make the others that I have on my list!  Thank You for helping me try new and exciting cocktails each and every night!  Also, Thank You to all of you who come to my blog to see what I have been drinking nightly!  I appreciate it!  You're always welcome to email me just because, you don't need to have a recipe in hand.  OK, so onto the recipe.

Here is the recipe for my Crango Daiquiri:

  • 1 1/2 shots light rum
  • 2 shots mango puree
  • 1/2 shot banana liqueur
  • 1/2 shot cream of coconut
  • 1 shot cranberry juice
In a blender add 1 cup of ice, rum, mango puree, banana liqueur, cream of coconut and cranberry juice.  Blend until your ice disappears, pour and enjoy!!

Peach Margarita

Day 48

Peach Margarita
3.5 shots out of 5

I am a BIG fan of these Finest Call purees, I must say!  I'm enjoying using them to create my blended cocktails.  I'm looking forward to my next trip to the liquor store to find out what other flavors they sell!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  I was a little disappointed in myself because I wanted this cocktail to taste more like peaches.  My husband says that he can taste the peach flavor, but I can't taste it all that much.  I think I'll try to make it again another night and amend my ingredient amounts a little.  I do need to tell you though, that the photo of the end result below was fresh out of the blender, so it looks kinda whitish, where now as I'm blogging about it and it's sitting, the ingredients have settled and it's now the color that I thought it would be which is a peachy orange color.

To me this cocktail kind of tastes like a blended margarita.....wait, let me take another sip.........yup, I was right!  I mean I kind of taste the peach, but not like I want to.  Oh well, can't make a "5 shoter" every night.  I think if I was to lessen the sweet & sour and add more of the peach puree I would have had it tasting more like I wanted it to.

Here is the recipe for the Peach Margarita:

  • 1 shot tequila (yes I said tequila, yikes!)
  • 1/4 shot triple sec
  • 1/4 shot lime juice
  • 1 1/2 shots sweet & sour mix
  • 1 shot peach puree
In a blender add 1 cup of ice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, sweet & sour mix and peach puree.  Blend until your ice is completely gone.  Pour and enjoy!!

Here is a photo of the end result:

I guess even the cocktail lady doesn't get it right all the time, haha, totally kidding, I'm still learning how to and what to mix to make these cocktails work!

Bananas Foster Cocktail

Day 28

Bananas Foster
5 shots out of 5

Another Ah-maze-ing Banana puree cocktail!!  Can I just say that I LOVE making blended cocktails!!  My husband and I are on a total blended cocktail kick now.  For some reason we always "thought" we didn't really like blended cocktails.......not quite sure why now.  They are so yummy, refreshing and not to alcohol tasting, but be careful, they're creepers!!

Tonight's cocktail is the Bananas Foster and I gave it 5 shots out of 5.  It tastes like we're sitting at a table and eating our dessert of Bananas Foster....well except we're drinking it of course.  If you're a lover of (or just enjoy them from time to time) bananas, I highly recommend you try tonight's cocktail or my other creation Swing'n Banana Daiquiri.

Here is the recipe for my Bananas Foster:

  • 1 Tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 shots banana puree
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 3/4 shot cognac
  • 1/2 shot amaretto
  • 1/2 shot cream
In a blended add a cup of ice, brown sugar, banana puree, lemon juice, cognac, amaretto and cream.  Blend them all together so that there is no ice left.  Pour your cocktail into a margarita glass and enjoy!!

Mango Orange Creamsicle Cocktail

Day 26

Mango Orange Creamsicle
5 shots out of 5

Um.......Perfect!  WOW, it amazes me that I can recreate a taste sooo perfectly!!  Well it amazes me that I can create a cocktail that actually tastes good for starters, but to have it taste just like the real thing?  WOW.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5 because, well.......I really like creamsicles!  I added some mango to it to give it a little bit of a different taste to the common Orange Creamsicle (which there's absolutely nothing wrong with).  The mango is not overpowering at all, there's just enough of a subtle hint that you "just" know it's there.

I'm having a LOT of fun with these puree's I bought.  Keep your eyes peeled for more banana and mango (ooohh, or both together would be fun) flavored cocktails to come!  I can't wait to head back to the store and choose a couple new flavors!  Wonder which ones I should choose.  Have any of you had cocktails with any different flavors of the Finest Call purees that you would recommend me try next?  Let me know!

As always, if you have a favorite cocktail that you would like for me to try, please email it along with its recipe to me at cocktailady@gmail.com, I'd love to hear from you!

Here is the recipe for the Mango Orange Creamsicle:

  • 1 1/2 shots vanilla vodka
  • 1/2 shot orange curaçau
  • 1 shot mango puree
  • 2 shots orange juice
  • 1/2 shot cream
In a blender, add a cup of ice, vanilla vodka, orange curaçau, mango puree, orange juice and cream.  Blend until all of the ice is gone (no little pieces left).  Pour into a margarita glass and enjoy!!

Mango Tango Daiquiri

Day 25

Mango Tango Daiquiri
5 shots out of 5

I couldn't go and use my banana puree and not use my mango puree, sheeesh.  Tonight I once again created my own mango flavored Daiquiri.  This one was a little trickier then the Swing'n Banana Daiquiri, I have to say.  Mango has more of a tartier taste to it then the banana, so I had to offset that with a little bit of lime juice......which I had added too much of, therefore I needed to add more pineapple juice, then more mango, then some more mango, etc.  I finally came up with a recipe that absolutely worked, and worked well!  Our friends came over to taste test it (I've been calling them on a regular basis to come over to try "tonight's cocktail") and both agreed that it was amazing!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5 because all of the ingredients blended well together and complimented each other real good.  I tell you once summer comes I'm going to be ready with my blender and MANY ingredients we now have around the house!  The fun thing about it will be all of the different colors of blended cocktails I'll make!  From the Blue Hawaiian to the Chi Chi to the Swing'n Banana Daiquiri to the Piña Colada to tonight's cocktail the Mango Tango Daiquiri.  I'm definitely starting to make a rainbow of blended cocktails around here!

Here is the recipe for MY Mango Tango Daiquiri:

  • 1 1/2 shots rum
  • 2 1/2 shots mango puree
  • 1/2 shot cream of coconut
  • 2 shots pineapple juice
  • 1/4 shot lime juice

As I had said, I had to keep increasing the amounts of each ingredient, so this is going to make a little more then one cocktail......but honestly, is is that a bad thing?  Not in my book!

In a blender add 1 cup of ice, rum, mango puree, cream of coconut, pineapple juice and lime juice.  Blend until there is no more ice, it should be a liquid.  Pour and enjoy!!

Swing'n Banana Daiquiri

Day 24

Swing'n Banana Daiquiri
5 shots out of 5

OK, so I'm a little bias, but for good reason!  I created tonight's cocktail myself......so of course I'm gonna make it so that I LOVE it!!  When I was at the liquor store buying more bottles of alcohol I walked by the Finest Call section and saw a bunch of different flavors to choose between.  My goal is to make these cocktails with out using pre-made drink mixes, such as a Piña Colada mix (I'd rather mix the pineapple juice and cream of coconut myself), so instead I went for the Puree's. I chose the Banana Puree and the Mango Puree.

I decided that I was going to make a blended cocktail tonight.  I guess I was in the mood to pull out my blender and give it a whirl (pun intended).  So I decided to make my version of a Banana Daiquiri.  I'm sure there are other versions out there, but I wanted to know that I was going to love it, so I made it myself.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  I really enjoy blended drinks, I do like the flavor of banana and the ingredients together made it taste great!  I am hoping that at the end of this year, I will be able to create my own drinks by knowing what goes with what and how much of each ingredient to use.

Here is the recipe for MY Swing'n Banana Daiquiri:

  • 1 1/2 shots of rum
  • 1 shot Banana Puree
  • 1/2 shot cream of coconut
  • 3 shots pineapple juice

In a blender, put 1 cup of ice, rum, banana puree, cream of coconut and pineapple juice.  Blend it up so that there are no little pieces of ice left, just a complete liquid.  Pour into a margarita glass and enjoy!!

Piña Colada

Day 10

Piña Colada Cocktail
4 shots out of 5

Well look at that, we're in double digits!  Tonight's cocktail is the Piña Colada.  Now I must say that I've always been secretly scared of the Piña Colada, reason being.......it has coconut in it (or coconut flavoring I should say).  When I had made the Blue Hawaiian and declared my love for it, my husband raised an eyebrow at me (if you know him you know how his raised eyebrow can make a room stand still) and asked "You know that has a coconut flavor right?".  This was the same reason I was surprised at how much I liked it.  I know I don't like to eat coconut, but I have eaten things in my past that have had a faint coconut flavor to them and thought they tasted pretty good.  Since the Blue Hawaiian was a huge hit with me, I figured that the Piña Colada shouldn't be that much different.  I was right!

The two cocktails I've mentioned do have some of the same ingredients in them, but there is enough of a difference to where I can honestly say that I like the Blue Hawaiian a bit more then the Piña Colada.  The only thing that slightly bothers me is the fact that as my cocktail sits here as I sip and blog about it (I'm thinking the cream is what is making this happen) my Piña Colada starts to get a thicker layer on top.  I can give it a good swirling and it "mostly" blends itself back together, but I just felt I needed to mention that.

I gave my Piña Colada 4 shots out of 5 because I truly am enjoying it and would defiantly order it at a bar if I was in the mood for a blended drink.  This is yet another cocktail I could drink by the pool or on a hot summer day while soaking up the sun.  I would recommend this drink if you enjoyed the Blue Hawaiian absolutely.

Here is the recipe for a blended Piña Colada:

  • 2 shots of golden rum
  • 1 shot of coconut cream
  • 1/2 shot of cream
  • 1 shot of pineapple juice

Pour all of the above items into your blender.  Add a good handful of crushed ice and blend until the ice is no longer in pieces.  Pour into your glass and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is a photo of the end result:

On a side note, I have to say that we went out to dinner last night and I was VERY proud of myself when I ordered a Sea Breeze!!  Nope, not a vodka cran or a rum & coke, a SEA BREEZE!!  I do have to add that I make a MUCH better Sea Breeze then the bartender at the restaurant though.

Cheers to Day 10!

Blue Hawaiian Cocktail

Day 8

BLUE HAWAIIAN COCKTAIL
5 shots out of 5

Why have I not tried this cocktail before??  I have absolutely found my new favorite blended drink, EVER!!  The only time I've ever heard of this cocktail before was years ago when I went to Hawaii with a group of friends and one of the guys from our group had ordered.....well I guess a few Blue Hawaiian's because when we found him at one of the bars he was quite red in the face, singing karaoke.  I never got to try it, but I did remember that his drink was quite blue.

This is a simple cocktail to make.  I know there are non-blended versions of this drink, but I went with the blended one instead.  GREAT choice on my part!!  This is a total cocktail I could see myself drinking poolside as well as hanging out at the house with a group of friends.  I have a feeling after typing up this blog that that's exactly what I'll be doing at the next get together here.

I have discovered in my 8 days of writing this blog, that I am more of a Rum Cocktail Lady, then a Vodka Cocktail Lady.  If you would have asked me before writing this blog which one I preferred, I would have told you vodka hands down.  Yea, not anymore!  I even prefer my rum Drunken Gummy Bears over my vodka Drunken Gummy Bears (recipe is on my "Other Fun Stuff To Try" tab).

I have given tonight's drink 5 shots out of 5, but am seriously considering giving it 8!  I hope you try tonight's cocktail and love it!

Here is the recipe for a blended Blue Hawaiian:

  • 1 shot light rum
  • 1/2 shot blue Curaçao
  • 2 shots pineapple juice
  • 1 shot cream of coconut

Crush up a good handful of ice and then put it into the blender.  Add the rum, blue curaçao, pineapple juice and cream of coconut.  Blend the ingredients together until your ice is completely broken down.  If you do not blend it enough, your ice will become a little crunchy and you don't want to eat your Blue Hawaiian, trust me!  Once the ice is blended in all you have left to do is pour and ENJOY!!  I sure know I did.....as did my husband and our neighbors!!

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

I sure hope you enjoy this cocktail as much as I did!!
