Liquid Marijuana Cocktail

Day 38

Liquid Marijuana
5 shots out of 5

OK, so I've seen this cocktail ALL OVER Pinterest and I just had to try it!  One of my best friends has been asking me to making this one as well, so here it is!!  Can I just say YUMMY!!!!  Here's to  learning yet another thing about cocktails.........I actually like sweet & sour mix!  I guess I was scared of sweet & sour mix because it reminded me of regular margaritas.....which in turn reminded me of....<gags> tequila!!  Yes, yes, I do know that I will have to make cocktails with tequila in them, and because of that I have to admit that I DID purchase a bottle of it today.

Tequila and I had a face off about 15 years ago, and I am ashamed to admit..... tequila won.  It has made me NOT like it and run from it's smell for the past 15 years.  There has been an occasion or 5 where I got up enough courage to have a shot of it again since that horrible night.....but I never drank NEARLY as much of it as I did that one night 15 years ago.  Yes......yes, I did have one night about 4 years ago where I was a little off and had a few shots of the stuff......that night didn't end well either.

Anyways, I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  I am enjoying this cocktail a lot!  The sweet & sour mix is really giving it a surprisingly good taste!  I have a feeling that this cocktail will be requested at our next friend gathering.  I recommend you try this cocktail and I really hope you like it as much as, or even half as much as I do!

Here is the recipe for Liquid Marijuana:

  • 1/2 shot Malibu Rum
  • 1/2 light rum
  • 1/2 shot blue curaçao (this time it makes the cocktail good, haha)
  • 1/2 shot apple pucker
  • 2 1/2 shots sweet & sour mix
  • 2 1/2 shots pineapple juice
In a tall glass fill it up 3/4 to the top with ice.  Pour in your Malibu Rum, light rum, blue curaçao, apple pucker, sweet & sour mix and pineapple juice.  Stir it up really good and enjoy!

Silk Panties AKA Woo Woo Cocktail

Day 21

Silk Panties AKA Woo Woo
2 out of 5

Here we are at the end of week 3.  I've learned a few things in these last 3 weeks.

  1. Gin isn't as bad as I thought
  2. The color of sweet vermouth scared me more then the taste of it
  3. Grapefruit juice in cocktails is pretty darn good....especially in a Sea Breeze
  4. I am no longer a vodka cran or rum & coke girl
  5. blue caraçuo doesn't make "every" cocktail taste good, such as the Into The Blue
  6. cream of coconut IS quite tasty
  7. I enjoy blended cocktails A LOT
  8. I am enjoying this blog more then I thought I would!
That being said, lets get onto tonight's cocktail.  I gave tonight's cocktail 2 shots out of 5 because although it's a sweet drink......it's a bit much.  I mixed this cocktail up, strained it into it's glass and smelled it before I tasted it.  The smell was great!!  I couldn't wait to try it.......then I did......not a whole lot of flavor.  All I'm left with is thick saliva.  Thrillsville.

The more sips I take, the less I like tonight's cocktail.  I think I would have put less peach schnapps in and more cranberry juice.  That would have at least made it less sweet.  OK, this last sip is now making my mouth feel/taste like I just took a dose of cough medicine.  OK, yuck!!

Here is the recipe for Silk Panties AKA Woo Woo:

  • 3/4 shot vodka
  • 3/4 shot peach schnapps
  • 1 shot cranberry juice
Put ice into your shaker.  Add the vodka, peach schnapps and cranberry juice.  Stir your mixture up really well.  Strain your cocktail into a chilled cocktail glass.

Here is a photo of the end result:

(My cocktail looked a little lighter then its coming out in my photo, but maybe it has something to do with the glass being frosted in the photo and not now?)

Well peach schnapps, next time we meet.......I hope it's under better circumstances!!

Washington Apple Cocktail

Day 7

Washington Apple Cocktail
2.5 shots out of 5

In honor of our very first President of the United States, I dedicate tonight's cocktail to President George Washington.  Tonight's cocktail is the Washington Apple!  The first time I had ever heard of this drink was when I turned 30 and my husband, friends and I went to a club to celebrate.  The bartender gave us a round of shots, in them was what he called a Washington Apple.  Not having any idea of what it was made of, I opened the hatch and shot it down with everyone else.  Honestly I don't remember liking it that much at all.  When I decided to honor President Washington tonight, I searched for a Washington themed cocktail and continuously stumbled across this same drink over and over again and decided to give it one more try.

I have to say that this time around, I am liking it a bit more.  I honestly was a little scared when I saw that you add equal amounts of all ingredients.......including the apple pucker, but sucked it up and made it anyways.

This drink isn't half bad.  I didn't want to give it 2 shots out of 5 because I thought it deserved more.......but on the other hand, I didn't think it deserved 3 shots either.  Therefore 2.5 shots out of 5 it is!  The taste surprised me, I was expecting to not like it at all and to be forced to make faces with each and every sip.  So far..........no faces!  The amounts of each ingredient are right on, I think if you would have increased or decreased any of them, it would not be enjoyable at all.

So in my BEST Marilyn Monroe voice, "Happy Birthday Mr. President, Happy Birthday To You!!"

Here is the recipe for the Washington Apple cocktail:

  • 1 shot Crown Royal
  • 1 shot Sour Apple Pucker
  • 1 shot cranberry juice

In a highball glass filled with ice add your Crown Royal, sour apple pucker and cranberry juice.  Stir them all together and enjoy!  Another easily made cocktail!
